Xiaodan Liu received her medical training at China Medical University. After graduation she started her residency at the Department of Nephrology, the First Affiliated Hospital, China Medical University. During medical school she was introduced to proteomics of diabetic nephropathy and started her research studies at the “Wang-Lab” in China. After visiting the Pennathur Lab in fall 2013, she was thrilled by the potential of using high throughput biologic techniques to define the role of oxidative stress on disease pathogenesis and complications. In order to develop new strategies in diabetic nephropathy, she decided to join the Pennathur lab as a post doctoral research fellow in September 2013.
